Helen Morris was born in Portland, Oregon on August 9, 1927. She was the youngest of six children.
Helen met her husband Bob, a life guard at the local pool, when she was 12 years old. They married July 28, 1944 when she was 16. He was immediately shipped overseas as a medic in the Navy. When he returned they began their life together, moving every year or two.
Her favorite duty station was Kaohsiung, Taiwan, 1960-1964. She taught English to students from the Chinese Air Force Academy and volunteered at the Children’s Hospital for polio and tuberculosis.
Following the passing of her husband, Helen returned to school and graduated from high school and then went on to receive her Associates Degree in Art, Technical Art, and a Nursing Degree. She worked at Ridgemont Terrace Long Term Care as Director of Nursing for 18 years.
Ill health forced her to move to Boise, Idaho in 2010.
She is survived by her two children, Larry Morris and Laurel Bennett, her six grandchildren, Jamie, Wendie, Leslie, Timothy, Charles, and Misty, and her four great grandchildren.
