Born Jan. 24, 1925, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Harold and Marie Snyder Clem. She was married Aug. 30, 1945, in Laredo, Texas, to Charles T. Murphy, who survives.
A homemaker and avid reader, Helen was a 1943 graduate of Logansport High School.
She enjoyed bird watching and particularly enjoyed her family.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Richard Byler, Logansport; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leroy “Roy” and Lola Clem, Richard “Barney” and Marcella Clem, Edward “Butch” and Rose Clem and Merle “Ronch” and Bonnie Clem, all of Logansport; grandchildren, James Byler and his fiancAC., Shelley Weaver, Logansport, and Patty Hughel and her husband, Tom, Fishers; and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Robert “Mike” Clem, John Clem and Raymond Clem, and one sister, Betty Wheeler, preceded in death.
