Helen M. McDonald, age 88 of Midland, died Monday afternoon February 9, 2015 at Brittany Manor. The daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Meran) Vadovich was born in Saginaw on August 20, 1926. She grew up on the family farm in Hemlock, where she was raised and educated graduating from Hemlock High School. Helen operated her beauty shop out of her home for many years.
After her retirement she traveled to many different nursing homes, foster care homes doing hair care. On February 15, 1947 Helen married John McDonald and after 67 years of marriage he died on June 22, 2014. Together she and John enjoyed traveling, working in her yard but most of all being with her grandchildren. Helen was a member of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church.
Surviving are her sons, Tom (Kerry) McDonald, Bill (Kathy) McDonald all of Midland; grandchildren, Jill (William) Reynolds, Kevin (Kelly) McDonald, Kaitlin (Scott) Fink, Joseph McDonald, Timothy McDonald; great grandchildren, Bella, Brooklyn and Harper Fink, Landon, Laken and Ashlyn Reynolds, Kate and Kenzie Kalamaras. In addition to her husband Helen was preceded in death by her son, Gary McDonald and sister, Wilma Badour.
