Helen L. Smith, 87, of Anderson, passed away on August 30, 2012 at the Seton Specialty Hospital Indianapolis, IN. She was born on December 2, 1924 in Anderson, Indiana and resided most of her life in Anderson. Helen graduated from Anderson High School, class of 1943. She retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors.
She began working in 1943 making parts for machine guns. She was a member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling in two leagues, the Monday Morning Pinsetters and Wednesday Morning Playgirls, at Coopers since 1974.
Helen is survived by her loving son, Sidney Karen Smith of Anderson, IN, Step-daughter, Sharon Richard Seybert of Georgia. Grandchildren: Chad Tammy Smith of Chesterfield, Shannon Kara Smith of Pendleton, Brandon Smith Angel Lewis of Anderson. Step-grandchildren: Shane Daphne Seybert of Georgia, Regan Eric Hoffmayer of Mississippi. Great Grand-children: Ashton and Drew Smith, Sam and Sawyer Seybert and Peyton and Anna Hoffmayer, close cousin, Donetta Robert Harmon of Lapel, a close niece, Dixie Thompson of Anderson, Also surviving are several other nieces, nephews and cousins, two sisters-in-law, Esther Baker and Juanita Trinkle of Anderson, good friends, Pat Danner, Mary Sizelove, Jeff Debbie Cash and the girls at Peggy’s Beauty Salon.
Also surviving is friend and former daughter-in-law, Karen Brent Justice and his son, Brandon of Anderson. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Smith, parents, Roy E. and Myrtle M. Lawson Seybert, brothers: Willis “Bill” Seybert, Donald Seybert, and half -brother, Keith Stout. Memorial Contributions may be made to Cross Roads United Methodist Church.
