Helen L. Washburn Jeffries, 89, formerly of Alexandria, died July 8, 2003 at Windsor Estates Health & Rehabilitation Center-Kokomo, IN after an extended illness. She was born April 19, 1914 in Madison County, IN, and had been a resident of Alexandria, moving to Sharpsville, Indiana two years ago. She was a bookkeeper for the Alexandria City Schools retiring in 1974 She was a member of First Christian Church in Alexandria, the Holiday Ramblers, Good Sam Chapter #18 Delco Family Campers and the National Campers & Hikers Association. She enjoyed square dancing with the Silly Circles and was an avid reader She is survived by her stepchildren: Kenneth ”Jack” & wife Johna Jeffries of Sharpsville and Barbara Distlehorst & husband Jack of Eusta, FL; brother-in-law: Orville Hilligoss of Alexandria; sister-in-law: Wilma Washburn of Alexandria; three grandchildren, Troy Jefffries, Teresa Heath & Tracy Jeffries; seven great grandchildren, Nick Jeffries, Tiffany Jeffries, Wesley Heath, Brandon Heath, Chris Jeffries, Alex Jeffries and Nicholas Jeffries, along with eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her her husband of 43 yrs., Harry L. Jeffries, on January 5, 2003; parents, Samuel & Nellie Thurston Washburn; and siblings, Ray Washburn, Robert Washburn, Ethel Mae Hilligoss and Elizabeth Davis.
