Helen (Huston) Conrad, 88, passed away May 21, 2013, in Anderson, after an extended illness with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born in Noblesville and resided most of her adult life in Fortville with her husband of 56 years, Memphis Huston, until his death in 1999.
Helen was a housewife and mother but also served as an employee of Western Electric, a bus driver’s assistant, and volunteered for Senior Citizens in Fortville where she met her spouse of 10 years, John Conrad. Helen also attended Fortville Church of the Nazarene as well as other denominations at times. She loved the church, family gatherings, music and poetry.
Helen is survived by her husband John Conrad; daughters Sharon Chastain, Sandra (Bill) Wren; son Larry (Marsha) Huston; grandchildren Sherry, Tracy and Mathew (Linda) Castor, Carisa, Martin and Eric Huston and Melanie (David) Brunner; great-grandchildren Beth (Josh) Hatheway, Lilly, Samuel and Levi Brunner, Angela and Christina Castor, Jason O’Bryant and Cassandra Neff; great-great-grandchildren Merrick, Chloe, Corbin, Gavin, Blake and Caleb; and special friend Faerene McFarland.
Helen was preceded in death by parents Roy and Winifred Stephenson; brothers Clifford, Frederick and Lawrence Stephenson; sister Marie Moody; and great-grandson Joseph Brunner.
