On Friday, June 23, 2017, Helen (June) Sorenson Rowsell, age 94, left the bonds of this earth to return to her loving Heavenly Father and be joyfully reunited with her husband, family, and friends who had gone on before.
June was born in Bancroft, Idaho on June 9, 1923 and grew up there, graduating third in her class. The following summer, she met Joe Rowsell of Lava Hot Springs. They dated for three months and were married on October 12, 1941. That marriage was solemnized three months later in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their first home in Lava and for a short time, lived in Pocatello.
After the United States entered the Second World War in December of 1941, Joe was drafted and was sent to England for three years. Their son, Joe, was born before he left basic training and June went to Pueblo, Colorado with the baby so his father could see him before he left for England. June returned to Bancroft with her new baby and lived with her parents for three years while waiting for her husband to return.
When he returned, he got a job in Montpelier so they moved there where they raised their family of three children.
