Helen Jean Williams (“SheSha”) Helen Jean West Williams – better known as “SheSha”, was born on January 22, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan to parents, Alice Delaney West and Samuel West, who preceded her in death. Helen was the youngest of three children. Her sister, Eleanor West Manlove, and brother, Frank West, also preceded her in death. Helen attended Miller Junior and Senior High School in Detroit, Michigan. Helen married Maceo Michael Williams, who was smitten with her, but was kept at bay by her brother, Frank, until love prevailed, and they married on July 1, 1950. They were married for 52 years, until Maceo preceded Helen in death, on September 6, 2002. From their marriage were born two children, Alice Marlene Williams Jackson and son, Kevin Michael Williams (Kevin preceded his mother in death). Helen, a true lady is loved by many and missed by more. Her heart was always open to those who connected with her. She had that warmth and love that just drew you in. Her family meant more to her than anything. That family included her children, Alice and Kevin; 2 grandsons, Brandon Marlowe and Brian Ivan Jackson, and their wives Temeka and LaKeisha Jackson. Her twelve great-grandchildren: Brandon Jr., Brandi, Brian Jr., Justin, Hunter, Derrick, Carter, Antoinette, Parker, Harper, NaShawn, CiCi and her great-great-grandson due in July. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews (including Gloria Hunter and Benson Manlove, who she loved like her own children) and many more beloved relatives, too numerous to name. Helen is fondly called “SheSha” by her family, friends and grandchildren. This name was given to her by her oldest grandson, Brandon, when he was a little tot. In loving agreement Brandon and Brian made that translation to mean Grandma, especially for Helen. She honorably accepted it. Our hearts are broken by her departure, but no truer angel reigns in heaven. One of our cousins put it best. “God gave Aunt Helen a new job. Teaching angels how to love.”
