Helen Jane Weast

1933 – 2014

Helen (Grove) Weast, age 80, went to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the evening of February 8, 2014 from her home in Star.

She was born on a farm in Meridian, Idaho on August 5, 1933, to Edd and Iva (Colson) Grove.

In high school Helen was in the honor society and one year was in the Princess’ Court in the Dairy Days Parade. She graduated from Meridian High School in 1951. After high school she started dating Gerald Weast and they were married on June, 10, 1955. From this union three daughters were born.

Helen was always putting family and others first. She was generous and never wanted anyone to fuss over her. She was an avid reader and enjoyed autobiographies. Before having a family she worked for the Employment Security Agency and the Bureau of Reclamation. Later in life she worked for Vic’s Pie Shop and the Boise Schools lunch program. Being a farm girl, she would rather work outdoors than indoors – she did not like housework. Helen was a great helpmate to her husband and irrigated the crops and fed their cattle.

Helen is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gerald; daughters, Deana (Mike) Beavers, Donna, and Jane (Kevin) Obenchain; grandchildren, Rebecca (Dennis) Rutan, Joe (Lucia) Beavers, Katie (Tyrel) Dyer, Andrew (Mindy) Obenchain, Kimberly Obenchain, and Jon Obenchain; great-granddaughters, Madilyne and Paisley Dyer, and Makayla Beavers; brother, Robert (Jeanette) Grove of Vale, Oregon; sister, Jean Herrick of Boise, Idaho; brother-in-law Bob McFaddan of Meridian, Idaho; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Irene McFaddan.

She will be dearly missed.
