November 30th, 1916-September 18th, 2010. Helen (Hemler) Harris, 93, of Centennial Colorado, died Saturday September 18th at Holy Creek Christian Living Community, her home.
She was born November 30th, 1916 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Maude E Hemler and Harry Carden Johnson.
She graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1934, graduated from Washington State University School of Nursing in 1938, attended University of Chicago for Composition and Grammar, and received B.S & P.H.N from University of Colorado in 1948. Received her Masters at Highlands University in 1963.
She served her country proudly in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1938-1950 and Active Duty in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945 as a lieutenant in the Navy Nurse Corps.
Helen started as a school nurse in Las Vegas Schools in 1949 & retired from Sante Fe City Schools in 1980.
Helen was married to Arthur Wayne Harris March 5th, 1949. She was always active in social activities & was a member of the Holly Creek Chapel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Wayne Harris & one Brother, Ed Johnson.
