Helen J. Bowden, 86, of Freeport, died Friday March 5, 2004 at the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida. Born July 31, 1917 in DeSmet, South Dakota she was the daughter of Elmer and Georgina (Noble) Mitchell. She married Clifford G Bowden June 11, 1939 in Lena. He died March 24, 1989, She worked at the Burgess Battery Company for 20 years retiring in 1971. Her memberships included Faith United Methodist Church, Rebecca Women’s Circle, Scottish Rite Women’s Club, and Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are two sons, Gerald L. (Kathy) Bowden of Dayton, Ohio and Gale L. (Pauline) Bowden of Melbourne, Florida; one daughter, Jean (Randall) Lindsey of Haines City, Florida; one sister, Mavis (William) Connors of Wiki Watchy, Florida; 14 grandchildren; 16great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 brothers; 1 great grandchild.
