Helen (Grondalski) Igielski, 99, of Newington, beloved wife of 56 years of the late Walter J. Igielski, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. She was born in Springfield, MA on July 13, 1914 and was the daughter of the late Piotr and Wiktorya (Piecuch) Grondalski. Helen was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She enjoyed sewing (was an excellent seamstress); and, loved cooking, often making up her own recipes. Her greatest joy was her family. She was longtime faithful communicant of St. Mary’s Parish; and then, Helen and her husband became two of the “founding members” of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Helen’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to her doctors, staff and caregivers at Jefferson House for the love, care and compassion shown to Helen and her family. Helen leaves her two sons: Theodore J. Igielski of Wethersfield and John P. and wife Judith Igielski of Newington; a brother Ralph Grondalski of Atwater, CA; four granddaughters: Elizabeth Tripp and husband James of Portland, Susan Erwin and husband John of Bolton, Anastasia Tripp and husband David of East Hampton and Sharon Papale and husband Michael of Colchester and eight great-grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her husband; her son, Walter P. Igielski and her daughter-in-law, Sandra (Bailey) Igielski; her sisters, Sophie Bednarz, Antoinette Paglione and brothers Stanley and Francis Grondalski.
