She was a stay-at-home wife and mother for 75 years and devoted her life to her family’s and friends’ activities. She and her husband, Merv, moved to Roodhouse where he founded Cloverleaf Feed Company in 1948.  After raising their family in Roodhouse for forty years, they moved back to Jacksonville to retire. She was a member of the Church of Our Saviour parish and Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed delivering Doorbell Diners.

Helen’s primary love in life was her large family. She took pride in her children’s and grandchildren’s achievements and was never shy to boast about them. As Mother Theresa said, “What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family.” She is also known for her love of baking, especially her creation and sharing of delicious desserts.  Another passion was bridge, in which she was a Bronze Life Master. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge and expertise with her many friends in her bridge clubs. Finally, she was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, a love which began while listening with her Dad to the Cards in the early 1930’s. She recently fulfilled a life-long dream by being able to throw out the first pitch at a Cardinals game in Busch Stadium for Jacksonville Night.
