Helen Gertrude Nealeans Crow, 102, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family. She was born to the late George James Nealeans and Sydney Browning Simmons Nealeans of Birmingham, Alabama. She lived in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Raleigh, North Carolina before settling in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She attended Goldsboro High where she met the love of her life Ekron Cheslun Crow Jr. They were married November 12, 1939 at St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Goldsboro. They were married 39 years.
She is survived by her son Ekron Cheslun Crow III and wife Betty Faye Allen Crow, grandson Ekron Cheslun Crow IV and wife Sara E. Crow and great grandson Ekron Cheslun Crow V (Quinn). Nephews Emmett W. (Chuck) Williams, Drew B. Nealeans and wife Melva, Alan Nealeans and wife Karen of NC, nieces Joyce Culpepper and Susan White of GA, other great nephews and nieces and great greats. She will be truly missed by neighbors and friends.
Helen was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many during her long life. She prayed for those of family and others daily and will truly be missed by those who loved and knew her. She was a Christian who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Helen was a charter member of The Captain Samuel A. Ash United Daughters of Confederacy, member of The Caswell Nash Chapter of the Daughters of the America Revolution, Clan Ross America. Hayes Barton Baptist Church, Modern Lydia/TMT Sunday School Class, and attended Tuesday morning Bible Study.
She was related to many of the old families of the South and country: Simmons, Rutherford, Morel, Bourguin, Tennille, Bullock, Roosevelt, Washington/ Curtis, Lee, Bryan, Mordecai, Lane, Edmundson, Devereux, Polk, Pollock, and Ash, Churchill, Spencer and General Nathaniel Greene.
