Helen (Chudzik) Asklar, 96, of Wethersfield, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Asklar and daughter of the late Albert and Karoline (Lach) Chudzik. She was born and raised in Hartford and moved to Wethersfield in 1955. She was an excellent cook, gardener, superb set back card player and loved politics. Helen was a member of the Elm Tree Garden Club and Corpus Christi Church. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Carol Asklar of Marlborough; her two daughters Karen Grow and her partner Stephen Wolf of Rocky Hill, and Emmy Miller and her husband Skid of Marblehead, MA; six grandchildren Geoffrey Grow and his wife Kathy Barron, Kimberly Beer and her husband Jon, David Grow and his wife Michelle, Joseph Asklar and his wife Sheri, Corinne Machowski and her husband Todd, Kevin Asklar and his wife Carrie and 11 great grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by four brothers Arthur, Carl, Francis and Stanley Chudzik; and sister Ann Tomasetti. Helen’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the VNA Hospice for their tender and dedicated care.
