Helen E. Coleman
1927 – 2008
In the still quiet moments of August 14, 2008, Helen E. Coleman slipped peacefully away to join her husband, Clarence, who preceded her in death. Helen was born March 3, 1927 in Brookland, West Virginia to Nute and Rebecca Fortner. She married Clarence Coleman on May 26, 1945 and they began a family with the birth of their first son in 1949. Helen relocated her growing family multiple times throughout her husband’s military career, finally settling down in Mary Esther in 1963, now with four boys.
Helen leaves behind one brother; Darrell Fortner and his wife Jean of Shadyside, OH, ister-in-law; Selma Fortner of CA; brother-in-law; Bobby Coleman and his wife Bev of Layton, UT, four sons; Larry of Blytheville, AR, Gary of Navarre, Steve of Fort Walton Beach and Bruce of Mary Esther, (Also known at times as Henry, Bill, Peter and Dick), three daughters-in-law who she always thought of as her own, Doris, Michele and Teresa, eight grandchildren; Jason, Christina and her husband Todd, Brian, Gary David, Robbie, Stephanie, Steven and Laura, along with one special grand-daughter in heart, Sara, four great grandchildren; Joey, Josh, Zackary and Jacob. Helen was affectionately known by us all as “Maw Maw” and will be missed dearly.
