Helen Edith Douty Dennis, 74, formerly of 2001 Memorial Avenue, went home to be with her Lord at the Rose View Center on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.

Helen’s husband, William H. (Bill) Dennis died December 6, 2004.

Helen was a member of the Quiggleville United Methodist Church. She was very active in her church holding the position of church treasurer and financial secretary with her husband for over 20 years.

Helen was a 1954 graduate of the Williamsport High School and retired from the warehouse division of the former Stroehmann’s Bakery. She was also a secretary for Trinity United Methodist Church and the Lycoming United Methodist Parish.

Helen enjoyed card making and rubber-stamping, loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and watching them play their sports.

Born October 4, 1936 in South Williamsport, she was the daughter of Ralph W. and LeAnna S. Miller Douty.

Surviving are her children, William C. (Melody) Harrison, Jr., of Cogan Station, Kathy A. (John) Lumbard of Williamsport, Allison (Lorne) Ernst of Milton, Scott (Lisa) Dennis of Florida, Amy (Ryo) Harada and Andrea (Dave) Turner both of South Williamsport, brothers, Gerald (Nancy) Douty and William (Dorothy) Douty both of Williamsport; sister Joyce Hamilton of Duboistown; grandchildren, John (Angelia) Lumbard, Jr., William (Amanda) Harrison III, Joel (Laura) Harrison, Matthew (Steffenie) Lumbard, Nathan Wagner, Chelsey Hill, Madison Harada, Holly & Heather Dennis, Olivia & Noah Turner; great grandchildren, John III and Ryan Lumbard, Mekhi and Camryn Lumbard, Katlyn and Chelsey Harrison.

Helen was predeceased by brothers, Ralph and Howard Douty and a granddaughter, April LeAnna Lumbard.
