Helen Doby Poole has a new address… Heaven. She went home to a place she was promised when she accepted an offer from Christ to join his family. She left earth January 30, 2012, at l pm and arrived in a twinkling of an eye.

Born to the late Claude and Carrie Doby March 8, 1947, in Salisbury, she was the youngest of nine children and was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy, Gerald, Lewis, Archie, Richard,and Pride, and sisters, Betty Plummer and Judy Bolick.

Surviving are husband of 46 years, Buddy; son Lance and wife Jessica of Haw River, NC; daughter Stacy Mckinney and husband Eric of High Point, NC; six grandchildren, Jackie, Jessie, Hannah and Lance Poole, Jr., Caroline and Charlie McKinney; and a special relationship with nieces, Cheryl Van Der Poel and Teresa Ward. Also surviving are other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Helen loved to play bridge with her friends, Brenda White, Judy Gealey, and Pat Macon. She enjoyed her grandchildren and had an exciting life. She went to many concerts over the years and was friends with many country and gospel music entertainers.

She loved North Myrtle Beach and her favorite singer was George Strait. Favorite author was Danielle Steele. She lived in Germany while Buddy was in the Army; later, Durham, Burlington, Thomasville, High Point and came home to Salisbury in 2002 when she and Buddy bought WSAT radio station.
