Helen Dorothea Losiewicz, age 84, of Keymar, Maryland died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Kline Hospice House of Frederick County with her family by her side.
Born July 19, 1926 in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Walter & Mary (Kroll) Michelus. She was the wife of Edward Losiewicz, Sr., to whom she was married 55 years.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown where she helped run the clothing ministry for many years. She was a recipient of Bishop P. Francis Murphy Social Ministry Award and the 2005 Maryland State Council Knights of Columbus Family of the Year. She was a member and past president of the St. Joseph Sodality. She also served as a religious education teacher and was a former scout den mother, PTA president and basketball coach. She was a secretary for a variety of businesses during her younger years and a homemaker in more recent times.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by son Edward “Eddie” Losiewicz, Jr. of Keymar, daughter Michele Weddle of Walkersville, and sons Stanley Losiewicz & wife Shirley of Kearneysville, WV, and Andrew Losiewicz & wife Shannon of Boonsboro; brother, Stanley Michelus of Merrick, NY, 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. She will also be missed by Theresa Losiewicz, Sue O’Toole and Dwayne Weddle. She was predeceased by sisters, Jean Winters, Stella Teunisen & Emily Michelus, and brother Edward Michelus.
