Helen Chadwick, age 82 of Long Beach, Indiana formerly of Oak Forest, Il. A U.S. Army nurse and World War II veteran, passed away peacefully on Dec. 24, 2004 in Long Beach, Indiana. A long-time resident of Chicago. Beverly Hills neighborhood, Helen spent the last 29 years in Oak Forest. She was born on June 29, 1922 to Peter and Milica Yerkovich and grew up in South Chicago where she graduated from Bowen High School and South Chicago Hospital�s School of Nursing.
She worked as a registered nurse intermittently for 50 years, including most recently 10 years at South Suburban Hospital and 10+ years at Crestwood Heights Care Center. She also spent several years as a regular volunteer at Oak Forest Hospital. She was married after the war to Gordon K. Chadwick, an electrical engineer at Illinois Bell Telephone Company. She is survived by two daughters, Veda Briley and Melissa Langston, four grandchildren, Joe and Holly Briley, and Chad and David Langston, two sisters, Mary Rzyski and Sophie Vukobratovich, two brothers, Milan and Robert Yerkovich, and numerous nieces and nephews.
