Helen Catherine (Cuyler) Buyarski of Sharpsburg, Ga., passed away on Oct. 9, 2014 at Doctor’s Hospice in Fayetteville, Ga. Born Sept. 7, 1920, in Minneapolis, Minn., she was the daughter of the late George Herbert Joseph Cuyler and the late Annie May Slingsby Cuyler. Helen was the wife of the late Joseph Buyarski of Menominee, Mich. Her marriage to Charles F. Hudson ended in divorce. Following graduation from Menominee High School, Helen worked at Marinette Hospital, Marinette, Wisc., and later at Lloyd Manufacturing, Menominee, Mich., in glider manufacturing during World War II. She was a homemaker and a community volunteer. While her children were in the Menominee High School band, she volunteered for band parent’s activities. After her children left school, she volunteered at Community Action, an elementary school, and for other community events. Since she had a love of history and museums, her favorite project was volunteering at the Menominee County Heritage Museum. Her hobbies were reading, Swedish weaving, embroidery and sewing. Helen was a life member and a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1887 in Menominee and a member of the Menominee County Historical Society. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Newnan. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws, Patricia and Roger Mitchell of Reed City, Mich., and Nancy Buyarski Dunn and Curtis J. Smith of Eldersburg, Md.; two sons, Stephen C. Hudson of Kingsford, Mich., and Fred E. Buyarski of Sharpsburg, Ga., and son and daughter-in-law Herbert J. and Laurel Buyarski of Menominee, Mich.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Siblings Barbara M. LeBouten and George S. Cuyler predeceased her.
