Helen C. Happ, 92, of Peru, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Heritage Manor in Peru. Miss Happ was born April 10, 1919 in Peterstown to John and Angeline (Metzen) Happ. Miss Happ was a member of St. Josephs Church in Peru where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society.

She was a volunteer for the Illinois Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary. She was employed for 26 years in the Egg Handling Department at A & P in Mendota and Freeport and later in New Hampton, IA. She then worked for a short time at Electrical Utilities in LaSalle. She retired from Illinois Valley Community College where she worked as a custodian. She enjoyed traveling, having been to every state except Alaska. Her family was her greatest joy. Having no children of her own, she was especially fond of her nieces and nephews and their spouses and families.

She will be dearly missed. Survivors include two sisters, Lucille Stadel of Henry and Darlene Burke of Mendota and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Andrew, Albert and Elmer Happ and four sisters, Loretta Schmidt, Bernice Klein, Mathilda Becker and Margaret Happ.
