Helen M. Brown McCabe, 96

Brunswick – Helen M. Brown McCabe, 96, of North Lake Avenue died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Samaritan Hospital Troy after a brief illness.

Born in Amsterdam, NY, she was daughter of the late Leonard Brown and Susan Frances Kiefer Brown and beloved wife of the late John E. McCabe Sr.. She was raised in Watervliet and resided in Troy most of her life and attended Watervliet Schools.

Mrs. McCabe was a homemaker and she and her husband were owners at the MC-Bar Ranch for many years.

She and her husband were married for 70 years and they enjoyed their life together, boating and were active members and Commodores of the Crescent Boat Club. They were also members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Power Squardon and taught boating safety. Helen and Jack were enthusiastic horse lovers and members of the Grafton Trail riders club.

Survivors include a daughter, Dolores (Thomas S.) Jacon of Weaverville, NC; a daughter-in-law, Anita P. McCabe of Brunswick; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sons, John E. McCabe Jr, D. David McCabe and Charles Fred McCabe and her brothers and sisters, Charles, Ralph K. and Raymond Brown, Hazel LeCuyer and Eva Cavanaugh.

Relatives and friends may call at the CHURCH on Monday from 12 noon – 2 PM.
