Helen B. (Ference) Grabowski, 87, of Plainville, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011, with her devoted daughter by her side, at Brittany Farms Health Center in New Britain. Helen was the widow of the late Walter Grabowski, who predeceased her in 1990.
She was born in New Britain on January 30, 1924, daughter of the late Mikolaj and Magdalena (Kuklinski) Ference. Upon the marriage to the love of her life, Walter, they made their home in Plainville where they raised their daughter, Geraldine, and shared more than 46 years of marriage. Helen enjoyed all aspects of caring for her home and her yard, and could be found many days outdoors raking, gardening, or feeding the birds.
She is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine and Thomas Wells of Plainville; her sister, Dorothy Pomianoski of Bristol; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Peter Ference and her sisters, Ann Gay, Mary McLaughlin, and Lottie Ahearn.
