Helen Alma Zaugg, 96 of West Bend, died Monday November 16, 2015 at the West Bend Care Center. Helen A. (Banwart), the daughter of Joseph and Ella (Cordill) Banwart was born February 10, 1919 in Winthrop, Minnesota. At an early age, her family moved to Fort Scott, Kansas where Helen was raised and received her education.
She also obtained a degree in nursing home adminstration. On January 9, 1941 she was united in marriage with Edward Zaugg in Fort Scott, Kansas. The couple lived in West Bend from 1941-1961 when they moved to Mallard where they lived until 1976. She has been in West Bend since 1976.Survivors include her children: Roger (Joyce) Zaugg of Jordan, Minnesota, William(Connie) Zaugg of West Bend, IA, Marvella (Larry) Wickman of Emmetsburg, IA, and Beth Zaugg of Portland, Oregon, 12 Grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, Sisters: Irene(Lester) Kaiser of Morton, Illinois and Ruth (Jim Bahr) of Fort Scott, Kansas.Helen and her husband owned and operated the West Bend Care Center for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward in 1998, a son Kem and siblings Albert, Glen, Earl, Clarence, and Mabel. She was a faithful member of the Apostolic Christian Church, West Bend.
