Helen Arlene Smith, 72, of 321 W. Clarinet Blvd., died at 12:50 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 3, 2007) at Beverly Living Center of Elkhart, 1001 W. Hively Ave.

She was born April 21, 1934, in Ligonier to Ullin and Grace (Price) Cart.

She is survived by four sons, Randy E. Faught, Mark Faught and William E. Faught Jr., all of Elkhart, and Rex (Barb) Faught of Harriman, Tenn.; three daughters, Kenda McCarrol, Barbara (Edward) Cassity and Tina (Phillip) Bernard, all of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold (Margaret) Cart of Goshen; and two sisters, Shirley (Jorge) Espada and Kathleen (Marion) Leitch, both of Goshen.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, William E. Faught Sr. and Alex Smith; her parents; three sisters, Maxine Kilgore, Esther Chaney and Betty June Cart; and five brothers, Wayne, Carl, James, Stanley and Richard “Dickie” Cart.

Mrs. Smith worked locally as a laborer for area factories until her marriage, when she became a homemaker. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed watching “M*A*S*H,” collecting trolls and arts and crafts. She particularly enjoyed making decorative jewelry boxes. She was a member of Zion Missionary Church of Elkhart.
