Helen A. Welshans, 84, of Gardendale, Ala., formerly of Linden, went home with her Lord and Savior on Aug. 19, 2011. after a long and courageous battle with diabetes and heart disease.
Born Jan. 26, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Lucy Rosetta Miller and Herbert Heim.
Helen was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church of Gardendale. She was employed with The Vogue, Glarmoise, Wundies and GTE Sylvania in Muncy before becoming a full-time housewife and mother.
Helen was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a great friend to those who knew her.
She leaves to cherish in her memory three daughters, Patricia (Donald) Koch of Cogan Station, Barbara L. A. (Robert) Randolph of Gardendale, Ala., and Cindy L. (Steven) Mann of Gardendale; two sons, Randy E. (Joanna) Welshans of Cullman, Ala. and Kent R. Welshans of Trafford, Ala.; four sisters, Shirley Garman of Selma, Texas, Sandra Leindecker of Northampton, Pa., Terry (Richard) Harvey of Cogan Station and Linda (Eric) Wahl of Williamsport; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Frank R. Welshans; a sister, Irene Hanson; and a grandson, Adam Randolph.
