Helen A.Corcoran, 88 of Toms River, formerly of Paramus, passed away Friday, April 5 at her home. Helen grew up in Jersey City, and on Jan. 10, 1948, married the love of her life, Jack Corcoran, who had recently returned from service in the U.S. Marine Corps. The Corcorans lived for 30 years in Paramus, where they raised their six children and were active parishioners in the Church of the Annunciation; Helen was a volunteer to help the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace.

After retirement, the Corcorans settled in Toms River, where they were involved in the planning, building and fund raising committees at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. Helen lived in Toms River for 29 years, and was known for her laugh, her Irish soda bread, apple pie, her penchant for cleanliness, and more importantly, her deep and abiding faith. Above all, Helen enjoyed her family, who were everything to her; Helen was a fountain of family history, childhood memories, loved to tell stories of her children growing up, and was extremely proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen joins Jack, her husband of 62 years, who passed in 2010, and her beloved parents, Thomas and Ellen.

Helen is survived by Patricia Stirling and her husband Thomas of Farmington Hills, Mich., Jack and his wife Linda of Lakewood, Calif., Nancy Waddingham and her husband Doug of Centennial, Colo., Thomas and his wife Linda of Wyckoff, N.J., James of Annandale, N.J., and Mary Scioscia and her husband Len of East Hampton, N.Y.

Helen is blessed with 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.In addition, Helen is survived by her two sisters, Margie and Jean, and brother Thomas. Helen was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed; Helen always had a positive outlook and often said she was blessed with a great life.
