Surrounded by her loving family, Heidi Ann Whetstone, 54, of Centennial, Colorado passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, February 15th. Her shadow of cancer has been put to rest, and her bright and happy spirit has been lifted from this earth.

Heidi was born February 3, 1963 in Iowa City, Iowa to Maureen F. and Caleb D. Aldeman. She graduated from City High School and the University of Iowa College of Education. Over her 25 year teaching career Heidi taught in many K-5 classrooms and as a reading interventionist in Iowa City, Des Moines, and Colorado.  She adored sharing her love of literature and learning with students from all over the world. Heidi was an avid learner herself, and truly loved the art of teaching.

She married Thomas P. Whetstone and they shared life together for 34 years.  They were blessed with an incredible daughter, Meagan.  Heidi’s greatest joy was sharing life adventures with them. She also loved laughing, culinary pursuits, gardening, travel, reading, and the arts. Over the years Heidi and Tom also hiked countless trails together.

Heidi is survived by Tom of Centennial CO; Meagan (Jason) Whetstone Jackson of Philadelphia, PA; her father Caleb (Shirley) Aldeman of Iowa City, IA; her three sisters: Kelley (Jon) Meister; Kristin Keith (Justin and Chloe); and Courtney (Troy) Block; Aunt Elaine Young; in-laws; Su and Don Thayer; Lou and Marvin Connelly, and numerous other family and friends.  Her mother, father-in-law Caroll Whetstone, and Grandmother Cleo preceded her in death.

The Whetstone Family would like to thank Rev. Tracey Dawson and Dr. Sami Diab, and to all our dear friends and family for love and support throughout Heidi’s loving journey.
