Hazel Lucille Simpson, 90, of Concord, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 12, 2023. She passed peacefully at home with family by her side.
Hazel was born June 26, 1932 in Concord to the late Worth Franklin Roach Jr. and the late Emma Mae Tucker Roach. She was also preceded in death by husband, Melvin Leroy Simpson; son, Hugh “Chuck” Melvin Simpson; daughter, Hazel Ann Styers; great-grandsons, Scottie Wise, Jr. and Maxwell Wise; brothers, Fred, Bill, and Kenneth Roach; and sister, Ruth Morgan.
She was a member of Cold Springs UMC and loved being a part of the Senior Travel Group and helping prepare meals for the church BBQ. She also enjoyed going to the Mt. Pleasant Senior Lunch Bunch, playing BINGO and crafting with them. Hazel also enjoyed traveling to the beach and the mountains. She will be remembered as a very caring and giving, but also for her loving way of life. Hazel was very appreciative of her family, friends and church family. Most of all, Hazel was a loving mom, grandma and great-granny. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren. Hazel will be forever loved and dearly missed.
Survivors include daughter, Brenda Kay Broadway of Concord; daughter, Debra (Jeff) Kendall of Concord; daughter, Teresa (Richard) Carter of Concord; grandchildren, Connie, Toby, Dink, Scott, Chris, Sherrie, Jason, Brandy, Dennis, Eric, Amber, Jodi and Stephanie; 25 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
