Hazel Laverne Butler age 86 of Ashland passed away on Thursday September 2, 2010 at the Good Shepherd Home where she had been a resident for eight years.
Born on March 24, 1924 in Matacoa Virginia the daughter of William C. and Thelma L. (Worley) Brooks she had been an Ashland resident for most of her life.
Mrs. Butler was a homemaker and a member of the Christ Community Evangelical Free Church and had attended the 50+ Fellowship.
Mrs. Butler was married to Henry Butler who preceded her in death in 1992 and Thurman G. Watkins who preceded her in death in 1972.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons, Kay (Mike) McWilliams of Bailey Lakes, George Felver of North Carolina, Bill Watkins of Ashland, Peggy (Terry) Bohland of Ruggles and Betty (Jim) Kiser of Ashland.
Ten Grandchildren, Nine great grandchildren and four step-grandchildren also survive.
She is also survived by one sister Ethel (Waverly) Pride, one step brother, Paul (Mary) Brooks and one niece Linda (John) Dice all of Colonial Heights Virginia.
In addition to her two husbands, Mrs. Brooks is preceded in death by her parents, two infant sons, one daughter, Diane Luella Watkins and two infant grandchildren.
