Hazel I. Keltner, 88, of Springfield, IL and formerly of Virginia, IL died Sunday, May 08, 2011 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born March 9, 1923 in Virginia; the daughter of Arthur and Helen Dunbar Keltner. She is survived by three sisters, Jo Wilson of Jacksonville, Darlene Muirhead (husband, Bob) of Battle Creek, MI, and Shirley Balmer of Lincoln Park, MI; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William “Billy” and Harry “Coxy” Keltner and two sisters, Roberta McDowell and Mary Rumble.
Hazel was a 1941 graduate of Virginia High School and was employed at the Lake Club from 1948-57 prior to her service with the US Army at Fort Benning, GA from 1957-59. She later worked at Sangamo Electric and the State of Illinois before retiring. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, daily devotions, and sending greeting cards to family and friends.
