Hazel I. (Elliott) Manning Leitsch, 90, died Saturday April 6, 2013 in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Lawrence, Indiana.

She graduated from Brazil High School and was in the first graduating class of Bob Jones College, Tennessee, now named Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC, receiving a degree in Bible/Missions.

Hazel was an amazingly, remarkable Proverbs 31 lady. She was very gifted at giving and serving others, cooking and teaching. She devoted her life to serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She became a Charter Member of the Victory Baptist Church in Indianapolis in 1949. She taught Sunday school for over 50 years and at age 88, she still taught the weekly Ladies’ Sunday school class along with teaching weekly Bible Studies at 2 different Indianapolis retirement centers. She was involved in her church in many other ways, especially working in the kitchen for various church dinners.

Hazel served as teacher and secretary of the Wheeler Rescue Mission, Indianapolis, along with her first husband, Louis Manning, Assistant Superintendent and later served together in a mission in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Hazel also worked for Western Electric, a telephone answering service and retired from the Marion County Health Department, after 35 years of service in the Vital Records Department.

Hazel’s hobbies were doing yard work, gardening, planting flowers and running around!!  She also loved spending time with her friends, relatives and adopted grandkids.

She has truly been an inspiration to us, blessed our lives in so many ways and will be missed very much.

She is survived by four nieces, Sandra Bell of Brazil, Alberta Sewell and Beth Montgomery both of Virginia and Pat Holt of Texas, two nephews, James Scott of North Carolina and Ronald Price of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert N. and Mary E. (McMains) Elliott, husbands, Louis Manning and Jesse Leitsch, brother, Joe Elliott, two sisters, Edith Price and Martha Scott and nephew, Thomas Elliott.
