Hazel Edna Piriak, age 88, of Salem, died at 5:56 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Salem Regional Medical Center in Salem. She was born May 26, 1927 in Osnabrock, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Henry and Josephine (Johnson) Vollum.
She worked at the former Schwartz Department Store, the former Engle’s Bakery and Salem High School Cafeteria. She was a very active member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Her husband, William Piriak, whom she married March 11, 1948, preceded her in death September 13, 1995. Two brothers, and three sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Andrew D. (Ann Blank) Piriak of Prineville, Oregon; a daughter, Valerie Piriak of Sante Fe, New Mexico; a sister, Dorothy Olson of Florida; a niece, Marlene (James) Knezetic of Salem; and a great nephew, Jimmy Knezetic of Salem.
