Mrs. Wenner-Schmidt, 87, of Laurel Street, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday (July 3, 2008) at Riverside Village Nursing Home.

She was born July 17, 1920, in Fort Wayne to the Rev. Otto G. Braddock and the Rev. Lilian M. (Nierieter) Braddock.

She married Kenneth Wenner in 1938 in Elkhart. He died in 1978. In 1982 she married Chester Schmidt. He died in Elkhart in 1998.

Surviving are two sons, Keith C. Wenner of Elkhart and Wayne E. (Loretta) Wenner of York, Penn.; one daughter, Shirley A. Akers of Elkhart; one brother, Otto Braddock of Holland, Mich.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn and Sarah; one brother, Eugene Braddock; and two grandchildren, Tina Wenner and Craig Akers.

Mrs. Wenner-Schmidt was a devout Christian and was a member of Winding Waters Brethren Church of Elkhart. She served as a production worker for C.G. Conn and Weiss Manufacturing for many years. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family and grandchildren, and watching old movies.
