Hazel C. (Gunzy) Samodel, age 83, of Norwalk passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Norwalk Hospital surrounded by family. A lifelong resident of Norwalk, she was the daughter of Louis M. Gunzy and Rosalyn Mewherter, who predeceased her and she was the loving wife for over 58 years to John N. Samodel.
In addition to her loving husband John, she is survived by her devoted daughter Cheryl A. Samodel of Norwalk, a brother John “Jack” Gunzy and his wife Margaret of Bethel, two sisters, Joyce Amon and her husband Richard of Stratford and Carol Gunzy and her partner Jean Leahy of Buzzards Bay, MA. She was predeceased by her brother, Louis (Chug) Gunzy of Stamford who was also her shopping and lunch buddy. She had many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She worked for JJ Cash and the R.T. Vanderbilt Co. and enjoyed crocheting, reading, Yankee games and day trips to the Mohegan Sun Casino.
