Hazel Beatrice Devine Cashion, widow of the late Julius Banks Cashion, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7th 2018, she had just celebrated her 101st birthday. “Aunt Bea” as her nieces and nephews knew her was the eleventh of twelve offspring from the union of Levi Andrew and Cora Akers Devine of Waco, N. C.

She grew up in Shelby, N. C., attended schools there and graduated from high school in Hot Springs, N. C. She also attended Palmer Business School and worked for a short time as a secretary. Her main job was her family where she was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and consummate care giver to her relatives. She was an accomplished seamstress, cook and homemaker.

She was member of Eastside Baptist Church in Shelby and later Northgate Colonial Church in Camden, S.C. where she resided since 1993.

Her last few years was spent at Springdale Healthcare Center in Camden where she was very active. She player bingo regularly, watched old movies and rolled around the halls talking the staff and residents relating stories about herself and her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Ellenor Kimbrough (Dr. Jerry E.) Patterson of Chapel Hill, N. C., a son John Wren (Marcia Olson) Cashion of Camden, S.C. She has four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Carl Kearse and his staff for their care and concern.

We also want to give special thanks to the staff of the Springdale Healthcare Center for their care and support.
