On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, Haydee C Gonzalez devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away at the age of 82.
Haydee was born on August 21, 1938 in Arroyo De Mantua, Cuba to Tomas Cata and Maria Luisa Hernandez. She came to the United States in 1968 with her daughter in search of a better life. She called Lawrence, MA her home for many years before moving to Florida.
Haydee was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She was instrumental in the raising of her grandchildren, and a constant presence in the lives of her great-grandchildren who lovingly called her “Lela”. She was a dedicated sports fan and especially loved the Boston Red Sox. She enjoyed family game nights and especially Bingo.
She is survived by her daughter Maria Gonzalez and her husband Wilson Gonzalez; grandchildren Marissa, Mayra, Wilson Jr, Eric, and their spouses. Great-grandchildren Isaac, Gigi, Nayliana, Brianna, Natalia, Aliya, Marielle, Havana, Alexis, and Evangelina.
She also leaves behind her brother Jose Thomas Cata his wife Nilka Cata. And many nieces and nephews who she dearly adored.
