Col. (Retired)Harvey Duennenberg was born in Kendall County to Fritz C. and Hilda (Poehnert) Duennenberg on his parent”s first wedding anniversary, November 2, 1931. He lost his battle with cancer on January 16, 2014 with his family by his side. Harvey started school in Boerne in 1937 and graduated in 1949. He enjoyed reminiscing with classmates at class reunions over the years. He graduated from Texas A & M in 1954 where was a member of the Corps of Cadets. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Ft. Lewis, WA where he met Beverly Ann Marie Campbell. They were married on December 23, 1956 in Tacoma, WA and were blessed with four children: Sylvia, Paul, John, and Laura. Returning to Kendall County, in 1958, Harvey was a teacher while actively farming and ranching, winning many awards for agriculture and land conservation. In 2008, the Duennenberg Ranch received a Texas Family Land Heritage designation for over 100 years of continuous agricultural operation under the same family ownership. Harvey was an Army Reservist throughout the years while pursuing graduate degrees. He began a second career in the U.S. Army, entering Active Duty duty in 1975 at Ft. Chaffee, AR where he attained the rank of Colonel and was Deputy Commander. He remianed at Ft. Chaffee until his retirement in 1992 when he returned to Boerne where he farmed and ranched until his death. Harvey is preceeded in death by wives Beverly Duennenberg and Dianna F. Duennenberg; Parents, Hilda and Fritz Duennenberg; Stepson, Robert (Hoppie) Davis. He is survived by wife, Sarah N.
