Harvey L. Leafgreen, 85, of Rio, died at 10:55 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at home.
Harvey was born on May 29, 1931 in Rio, the son of William and Estella Swanson Leafgreen. He married the love of his life Barbara Sue Ehler on September 14, 1957 at the Rio Presbyterian Church. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2015.
Harvey is survived by his son, Darrell H. (Keely) Leafgreen of Rio; a brother, George Leafgreen of Galesburg; 4 sisters, Helen Peterson of Knoxville, Pauline Sheridan of Monmouth, Elizabeth (Don) Robinson of Woodhull, and Marion Link of Galesburg; and three grandchildren, Jacob (Leeanna) Leafgreen and Cody Leafgreen both of Rio, and Amanda Leafgreen of Florida.
He is also survived by a brother in law, Leslie Ehler of Knoxville; a sister in law, Lolly (Rodney) Swanson of Rio; step grandchildren, Amanda (Adam) Main, Melanie (Levi) Bloss, Andy Zander, and Geoff Baughman; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his wife, Barb, Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Leafgreen; a great granddaughter, Aleigha Bloss; and a brother, Richard Leafgreen.
Harvey was of the Lutheran faith. He was retired from Moorman Mfg. Co., Porcine Transporter, and Maxwell Market. Harvey was a “people person”- never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with his family especially his little great granddaughter, Ariana Leafgreen.
