Harvey John Ussery, 80, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, September 26th, 2012. He was born February 24th, 1932 in Fremont, Nebraska.
When he was younger, he worked with his Dad in the sand and gravel business in Fremont, Nebraska digging many of the state lakes. In the 70’s he came to Arizona and was a heavy equipment operator for Local 428 in Phoenix, which he ran a tower crane while building the Hyatt Regency Hotel. He worked for Bechtel Construction Company who built the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Tonapah, Arizona. Later he retired from Local 12 in Pasadena, California.
He was a member of the Moose, Elk and Masonic Lodges in various states, Phoenix Scottish Rights and the El Zariabah Shrine. He loved going in his motor coach with his wife and traveling all over the United States and was active in many clubs within the FMCA.
Harvey loved to go fishing, camping, watching football, driving his quad and tinkering in the garage, having evening cocktails and shooting the bull with his friends and neighbors. He was a true family man, spending quality time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his best pal “Megan” a little Min Pin. Harvey married his first wife Dorothy, and from that union he had four children; 1 son and 3 daughters. Then he married his current wife Rita and they had one daughter.
Harvey is survived by his wife Rita, son Thomas Ussery; daughters Sandra Osborn, Susan Matyas, Stacy Bronson; grandchildren Jonathon Ussery, Joshua Ussery, Matthew Osborn, Amanda Barron, Katrina Ondracek-Wilson, Kari Ramirez, Jessica Bredvik, Jeremy Holden, Kristopher Owen, Nicholas Owen; great grandchildren Ryan Osborn, Reid Osborn, Ethan Ramirez, Nash Ramirez, Noah Ussery, Myles Ussery, Frances William Barron IV, Ciara Holden, Zackary Holden and Gavin Owen.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lottie Ussery; sisters Mable Ussery, Christina Pinkerton; eldest daughter Barbara Ondracek; and his in-laws Al and Jean Preston.
