Harvey Hardy, 62, of Clarksburg, WV passed away on November 12, 2010 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born on July 10, 1948 in Clarksburg, son of the late William F. and Jennie Winning Hardy. Harvey is survived by his wife of 37 years, Debra Radcliffe Hardy along with sixteen children, Jeanne Hardy, Shannon Jenkins, Missy (James) Davis, Chad Hardy and companion Michelle Mollohan, David Spinks and fiancée Jennifer Gaston, Robert Hardy and fiancée Tammy Jenkins, Charlene Spinks, Samantha Spinks, Rebecca Feathers and companion Robert Stout, James Hardy, Kevin Hardy, Shawn Hardy, Misty Hardy, Crystal Hardy, Richard Hardy, and Sierra Hardy. He and Deb raised forty-five foster children including Jonathan, Billy Joe, and Lexie; fourteen grandchildren, Preston Hardy, Jessica and Lindsay Jenkins, Kaylee and Samuel Spinks, Glen Shaffer, Caleb and Kaden Feathers, Issac Bonnert, Andrew Osborne, Hannah and Cole Oxley, Shane Childers and fiancée Amanda Bailey, and Hazel Jenkins; remaining siblings include Carl (Mary) Hardy, Betty Miles, Russell (Brenda) Hardy, Dale (Jeannie) Hardy, Sharron Hardy, and John Hardy; an uncle, James Winning; two sister-in-laws, Martha Hardy, Nancy (Robert) Fowler; brothers-in-law, Richard (Teri) Radcliffe and James Thornhill, as well as many nieces and nephews. Harvey was preceded in death by two brothers, William F. Hardy Jr., and James A Hardy; sister, Janet Hardy Thornhill, sister-in-law, Trena Hardy, a brother-in-law, Floyd Miles, and a son Steve Sturch. Harvey served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Musicians Union Local 580. He played in and was lead singer for the band Standing Room Only for over twenty-seven years. Harvey enjoyed being at the farm riding his John Deere tractor and riding his many horses. He spent many weekends camping with his family and close friends. He also raised his prize canaries with his good friend Sam. He always enjoyed singing, especially gospel songs, and he was a member of Duff Street United Methodist Church. Harvey was a wonderful husband, a loving father, and a substitute father for many. He loved people, especially children, and welcomed one and all into his home. He saw the good in others and participated in a variety of charity events, often raising money to help others. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
