Harvey Henry Girard, 63, of West Haven and formerly of Milford, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, with his family by his side. Harvey was born in Bridgeport on May 27, 1951, to the late Harvey H. and Theresa D. Girard. He served as a lance corporal with the Marine Corps in Vietnam before settling in the Fairfield and Milford areas, where he worked in sales for the furniture and car industries. He was an active member of American Legion Post 196, Milford, where he served as a sergeant at arms, junior vice, and was a board of trustees member. He took great pride in his children, his grandchildren, and his prized New England Patriots.
He is survived by two daughters, Julie McClintock (Brandon) of Chula Vista, Calif., and Betsy Shah (Aakash) of Milford; a son, Dana Muratori (Sherry) of Stratford; a sister, Maureen F. Houle (David) of Fairfield; and eight grandchildren: Malia and Isla McClintock; Maya Shah; Joseph, Elijah, Brianna, Savannah and Colton Muratori; and three nephews, Robert Girard Jr. of California, John Girard (Chris) of Naugatuck, and David Girard of Fairfield. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Arlene Girard, and a brother, Robert Girard.
