Mr. Cloeter died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Norfolk Veterans Home.
Harvey was born on November 5, 1923, south Cornlea, NE, the son of William and Mary (Von Bergen) Cloeter. He was baptized in the Baptist faith as a child and later as a member of the First Baptist Church.
Harvey attended Platte County Districts 24 and 82 before entering Albion High School. After his graduation, Harvey farmed with his dad until entering the Army on June 21, 1944. He did his basic training in South Carolina. He was deployed to Germany with Company F of the 314th Infantry where he encountered some front line action. He was honorably discharged as a Technician 4th Grade on June 8, 1946.
Upon returning to the States, Harvey started his career with Shaffer Pontiac in downtown Norfolk in 1946. While at Shaffers, Harvey worked his way from furnace stoker thru the parts department to becoming Sales Manager. He retired in the mid 1980s due to health reason.
Harvey was a life time member of the American Legion Post 16 and the VFW Post 1644.
He enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights at the VFW, the Kings Ballroom and the many Barn Dances in the surrounding area. He also liked to bowl and fish.
On March 30, 1949, Harvey was united in marriage to Dolores (Dee) Jaros in Norfolk. They had two sons, Larry and Randy who both live in Norfolk.
Dee and Harvey began taking the boys fishing at an early age and later the boys took their Dad fishing.
Harvey is survived by his sons, Larry and Randy both of Norfolk, one sister, Marjorie Butts of Albion and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Cloeter also of Albion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mildred Tiede-Punko and Lois Cox; and one brother, Carroll.
