Harry “Lead” Vincent Phillip, age 91, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2004 in Boerne, Texas, where he was born on May 21, 1912. The son of Rudolph and Frieda Langbein Phillip, Harry attended Boerne schools and was active in scouting and became an Eagle Scout. After graduating from Boerne High School in 1931, Harry went to Draughon’s Business College in San Antonio. He married his beloved wife, Fay Harlow on December 23, 1934. Harry owned and operated the Boerne Feed Store from 1936 to 1941. He then moved his family to Corpus Christi for a short time and then returned to San Antonio where he worked for Civil Service and was active in home building. After returning to Boerne, Harry became the manager of the Boerne Turn Verein. He stared in the insurance business in 1953 until his retirement in the late 70’s. He was very active in the community, serving as Secretary-Treasurer of the Boerne Hospital Drive and Secretary-Treasurer of the Boerne Salvation Army. Harry was elected Kendall County Treasurer in 1952 and kept this position for 16 years. Harry was an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler and was one of the original Boerne White Sox baseball team members. He was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Frieda Phillip, Brother, Walter Phillip, and Sister, Emily Phillip Hampton. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Fay; Sons, Thomas N. Phillip and wife Barbara of Boerne and James R. Phillip and wife Karen of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Dawn Allen and husband, Larry, David Phillip and wife, Kerry M., Kerry Denise Phillip of Boerne, Darren Phillip, Shannah Russell and husband, Jimmie, Jamie Bean and husband, Patrick, all of Oklahoma; Great Grandchildren, Cameron Dixon, Ella, Abigail, and Benjamin Harry Phillip, of Boerne, Kristina, Lindsay, and Jessica Allen of Louisville, Kentucky, Eli and Noah Russell, Shane, Cora and George Phillip, and James Forgority of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
