Harry M. Thrasher, 92, of Belton passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at home in Belton.
Harry was born on April 20, 1925 in Powell, Nebraska to Harry M., Sr. and Martha (Christoffersen) Thrasher. He was raised in California and graduated from Galt High School in Galt, California. Harry joined the Army in 1943 and served during WW II in Normandy among other locations. He left the Army in 1946 and began a career as a butcher, first training at the family store, White Way Market in Oklahoma, and later working for many years as a butcher at Safeway stores. He joined the civil service at the Mare Island Commissary and worked there until his retirement. Mr. Thrasher married Thelma Meredith on March 14, 1947 in Gainesville, Texas and they were married 70 years before she passed away in 2017. Harry moved to Belton in 1998 and was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God/Crossroads Church in Belton.
Mr. Thrasher is survived by his son Harry Thrasher and his wife Carol of Salado, daughter Carolyn Marlene Cary and her husband Richard of Wildomar, California, sister Darlene Morgan of Longmont, Colorado, five grandchildren, John Thrasher, Matthew Thrasher, Greg Weir, S. Lerwick, and Richard Cary, Jr., and 10 great grandchildren.
