Harry “Kip” Sloat, age 68 of Centralia passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at his home. Kip was born on September 6, 1947, in East St. Louis, Illinois the son of Edgar and Martha (Gould) Sloat.

Mr. Sloat is survived by two daughters, Jamie Taylor of Salem, IL, and Theresa Gould of Springfield, MO; one son, Jack Sloat of Charlton, MA; grandchildren, Nathan, Sierra, Jordan, Amanda, Lexie, Jacob, Erynn, and Shanna, and he was expecting his first great-grandchild in July of 2016. He is also survived by three brothers, Matthew Sloat, Billy Sloat, and Steven Walta.

Kip was preceded in death by his parents; his son, William J. Ray; his daughter, Julia Ann Sloat, and two brothers, Lonnie Sloat and Terry Sloat.

Kip served honorably in the United States Army for two tours during Vietnam. He held the Shriners Organization in high regard for all the kindness they displayed to himself and others. Kip worked as a truck driver for various companies and he retired 25 years ago.
