Harry John “Sam” Fleming, 71 of Centralia passed away Friday, October 17, 2014, at his home. He was born on July 29, 1943, in Litchfield, the son of John William Fleming and Melba Eileen (Weerts) Fleming.
He married Jacqueline “Jackie” Sue (Moore) Fleming on August 7, 1964, in Mt. Vernon and she preceded him in death on February 20, 2012.
He is survived by a son, James “Jim” Fleming of Centralia; a daughter, Jana Weh and fiancé Tom Mackey of Trenton; four grandsons: Andrew Fleming and Brady Fleming of Dix and Dustin Weh and Dylan Weh of Trenton; a step-granddaughter, Vanessa Mulvaney of Dix; an uncle Bill Beeler of Butler; special friend, Andrea Prather.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Sam was a lifetime member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Centralia, Centralia Masonic Lodge # 201, Scottish Rite, Ainad Shrine Temple, and one of the original stockholders at Cernans Gun Shop in Walnut Hill. He was a Fire Fighter for many years for the Centralia Fire Department, where he later retired. Sam enjoyed fishing and being outdoors and he always would put out a helping hand for friends, neighbors, and family. He most of all loved spending time with family, friends, and his four-legged companion, Charlie.
