HARRY D. “BUSTER” HUTCHENS, JR. 85, passed away at the Bailey Center for Caring in St. Augustine on Monday, August 2, 2021, after an extended illness.
“Buster”, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on July 13, 1936, in Byromville, Dooly County, Georgia, and came to live in Crescent City in 1962 coming from Americus, Georgia. He owned and operated B & M Grocery Store (Buster’s) on County Road 308 in Crescent City for over 30 years. He was a fifty-year member of Lake Lodge #72 F & AM and he was also a member of the Shrine. He was an avid Gator fan and he especially enjoyed fishing. He loved spending time with his family and his canine buddy “Peanut”.
He was preceded in death by Marsha, his wife of 58 years, and his sisters, Eloise, and her husband, Edward Sprouse, and Martha Denmark.
He is survived by his son, Harry D. “Bucky” (Lydiann) Hutchens, III; his daughter, Tara Lee (Eddie) Keyton; his sister, Margaret (Gene) Causey; grandchildren, Blaine (Paula) Hutchens, Stephanie (Devin) Roberts, Mia Hutchens, Clay (Lora) Bennett, Barbara Bennett, and Trey (Jolee) Bennett; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his little buddy, “Peanut”.
