Harry Ranney, 75, passed away at his home in Franktown, Colorado on August 26, 2022. He was born on September 25, 1946 to Bernard Joseph Ranney and Ella Louise Ranney in Gunnison Colorado, along with his twin brother, Larry. They were the youngest of two other siblings, Cass Ranney and Sharon Boots (Ranney). Harry lived with his family in Denver and attended Cherry Creek High School and George Washington High School. He spent summers working on his mother’s family ranch in Gunnison and later attended Western State College in Gunnison while also working as a ranch hand.
He graduated from WSC with a B.A. in mathematics and then taught math at Florence High School for 5 years. He joined the Air Force and became a captain working in communications. He was deployed to Germany where he received his M.S.
Throughout his life he enjoyed and excelled at multiple endeavors and hobbies, including sled dog racing, skiing and working on Ski Patrol, white water rafting, mountain climbing and repelling, horse back riding, including a bit of rodeo, and wood working. He could build anything, fix anything and loved to help others with his skills.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Debbie, his brothers Larry and Cass and sister Sharon Boots, his two sons, Jesse Ranney and Travis Ranney, four step chidren, Brett Whitlow, Candace Mantelli, Amber Fuller and Kyle Whitlow. 1 grandson, and 7 step grandchildren. He was greatly loved by all and will be terribly missed.
